Meet Our Eye Doctors in Cedar Park, Texas
Dr. McCarty has lived in the Austin area his entire life and founded Cedar Park Eye Care in 2002. He has many family members in and around the Cedar Park/Austin area. Since graduating from optometry school in 2000 he has provided family eye care and co-managed hundreds of LASIK surgery cases. Dr. McCarty received his bachelor of science degree in biology from Southwest Texas State University and his doctorate from the University of Houston College of Optometry.
Dr. McCarty is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and Central Texas Optometric Society. He has served as President and Secretary for the Central Texas Optometric Society, and currently serves on the Continuing Education division of the Texas Optometric Association. He has worked as an adjunct Associate Professor for the University of Houston College of Optometry. Dr. McCarty is licensed in the state of Texas as a therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist. He is a member of the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. McCarty partakes in many activities that central Texas has to offer. He enjoys golfing, running, boating, competitive pistol and rifle shooting and most of all, spending time with his wife, Shannon and their children, Jolie and James. Family has always been a huge part of his life as most of his live within a few miles of his practice.
Dr. Shah Vira grew up in Arizona. She moved to Chicago to complete a combined engineering and medical program at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and Chicago Medical School. While at IIT, she played collegiate soccer. After graduating from medical school, she completed a rigorous internship in internal medicine at Banner Good Samaritan in Phoenix, Arizona. She then completed her ophthalmology surgical residency at the University of Arizona, where she served as chief resident. After residency, she completed a highly competitive two-year dual fellowship in Neuro-ophthalmology and Oculoplastics at the highly regarded Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Shah Vira specializes in surgical correction of the eyelids and eyebrows, eyelid malposition and tumors, excessive tearing, and conditions involving the orbit. In addition, she provides a variety of cosmetic procedures, including upper and lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), brow lifts, and cosmetic injectables such as Botox cosmetic, and Xeomin. In addition, she specializes in neuro-ophthalmological procedures with a particular expertise in thyroid eye disease, orbital decompression, double vision (strabismus), idiopathic intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri) and optic nerve sheath fenestrations.
Dr. Shah Vira is board certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, North American Neuro Ophthalmology Society, Fellow in the American Academy of Surgeons, and Austin Ophthalmology Society. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, OrangeTheory, and playing the piano.

Dr. Monica Bhula is a Mississippi native who completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Mississippi and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry degree at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Bhula completed a residency in ocular disease at the Columbia VA Medical Center serving veterans in the South Carolina area. Her interests include scleral lenses and dry eye management. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and trying new restaurants.
